As the usage of animal antibiotics exploded in the 20th century, so too did usage in humans. The rise\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/health\/archive\/2015\/12\/obesity-antibiotics-microbiome\/421344\/\">coincides<\/a>\u00a0with the obesity epidemic. This could be a spurious correlation, of course\u2014lots of things have been on the rise since the \u201950s.
