{"id":3455,"date":"2019-11-15T03:13:27","date_gmt":"2019-11-15T07:13:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thiscontemplativelife.com\/?p=3455"},"modified":"2019-11-15T03:13:27","modified_gmt":"2019-11-15T07:13:27","slug":"hri-the-australian-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thiscontemplativelife.com\/index.php\/2019\/11\/15\/hri-the-australian-report\/","title":{"rendered":"HRI \u2013 The Australian report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In March 2015, the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) published an Information Paper on homeopathy, commonly referred to as \u2018The Australian Report\u2019.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hri-research.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/NHMRC-Information-Paper-Mar2015.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">1<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>This document concluded that \u201c\u2026<em>there are no health conditions for which there is\u00a0reliable\u00a0evidence that homeopathy is effective\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The report triggered headlines around the world suggesting NHMRC had found that homeopathy does not work for any condition.<sup><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2014\/apr\/08\/homeopathy-is-bunk-study-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">3<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>However, on 26 August 2019\u00a0<strong>NHMRC CEO Prof Anne Kelso<\/strong>\u00a0provided the following\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hri-research.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/3-CEO-statement-signed.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">clarification<\/a>\u00a0on the findings of the 2015 Homeopathy Review:<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u201cContrary to some claims, the review did not conclude that homeopathy was ineffective.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>An extensive investigation by the Australian Homeopathic Association (AHA) into NHMRC\u2019s conduct, combined with an in-depth scientific analysis of the review by HRI, revealed evidence of\u00a0serious procedural and scientific misconduct, including the fact that the published report was NHMRC\u2019s second attempt \u2013 a first report written in 2012 was never disclosed to the public.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Missing first report finally released<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>After an ongoing campaign by stakeholders and the general public, in August 2019 NHMRC finally released the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hri-research.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Draft-annotated-2012-homeopathy-report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">draft 2012 report<\/a>\u00a0in which the author concluded that there is\u00a0<em>\u201cencouraging evidence for the effectiveness of homeopathy\u201d<\/em>\u00a0in five medical conditions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>More here:\u00a0\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hri-research.org\/resources\/homeopathy-the-debate\/the-australian-report-on-homeopathy\/\">HRI \u2013 The Australian report<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In March 2015, the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) published an Information Paper on homeopathy, commonly referred to as \u2018The Australian Report\u2019.1&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[8],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/thiscontemplativelife.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3455"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/thiscontemplativelife.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/thiscontemplativelife.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/thiscontemplativelife.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/thiscontemplativelife.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=3455"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/thiscontemplativelife.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3455\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/thiscontemplativelife.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=3455"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/thiscontemplativelife.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=3455"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/thiscontemplativelife.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=3455"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
